ComcastOnDemand Anime TV Viewing Guide for 15 October 2010 (First edition this month)

Look closely folks 'cause you ain't gonna see snything like this again. Winry Rockabell with a gun? Unthinkable. Whatever would Granny say about this behaviour of yours?

It's been awhile and I have decided not to include any kiddies' cartoon shows except for Fireman Sam on PBS Kids Sprout under KIDS because I did promise my good tomodachi I would and I try never to go back on my word. In all fairness, however, I will select a few entertaining kids/adults movies that seem interesting but may not concern anime. Told you I tend to stray offtopic sometimes, didn't I?

Here we go and do remember that these are all available 'on demand' meaning whenever you want to watch them.

To access ComcastOnDemand (Channel 1):

Hit Channel 1 or hit OnDemand on your menu at bottom of screen or find it at bottom of any show you are viewing.

Top Picks/Hall-o-we'enathon:

Corpse Bride $2.99

HUB- PreSchool FREE(HUB is a new kids' network and it's a cross between PBS Kids' Sprout & Nicktoons. Only familiar show is Jim Henson's old puppet show Fraggle Rock. HUB airs on COD and on Channel 130 on the Eastern Seaboard)

HUB- Kids & Family FREE

Iron Man $2.99

Iron Man II $4.99 (The newest IM anime debuted in Tokyo this week. Wonder when we'll see it?)

MOVIES/By Genre/Animation

$2.99 each except as otherwise noted:

Alice in Cartoonland

Alice of Wonderland in Paris

Anastasia (1997)(The mystery of Czar Nicky's offspring)

Astro Boy ($4.99)(Nicky Cage as the prof and Don 'Oddball' Sutherland as the Prez. Funny I recall Don as the prof in Final Fantasy)

Atlantis the Lost Empire (Disney version of the cult classic with the usual fun & games)

Batman:Mask of the Phantasm (Bat vs mysterious cowled being)

Batman & Mr Freeze (Guvanator Arnie or Rifleman Chuck Connors or Cochise Mike Anasara?)

Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman (Batgirl I've heard of but who the oni is this Batwoman I wonder?)

Batman vs Dracula (Guess the Bat's filling in for Herr Van Helsing or is it Von Hellsing?)

Batman Beyond: Joker (Maybe the last chance to see Mark 'Skywalker' Hamill as Joker)

Batman: The Gotham Knight (Origins of the species?)

Batman: Under the Red Hood ($4.99)(Who is that under the red cowl? Someone from the BM's past perhaps? Smacks of Robin's alter ego on Teen Titans, doesn't it?)

Black Cauldron (Got this gem in my DVD collection but never saw it- yet! A kid saving the world from a horned king who has 'Black Cauldron'- a power to call up an army of the supernatural)

Blue Gender Movie (Where I got Marlene Angel from; Kome Sawaguchi is from Blue Seed)($2.99)

Butterfly Ball

Case Closed Movie 5

Case Closed Movie 6

Corpse Bride (Tim Burton still blames Johnny Depp for this mess)

Dr Strange (Remember how the Shadow became the Shadow? Well unless you saw the Al Baldwin film or read the tons of Max Grant Shadow books you probably don't. Anyway like Lamont Cranston the good doctor travels to a Tibetan monastery and learns how to kick ass using martial arts, mysticism and magical incantations. Why is beyond me)

Evangelion 1.11 (The kids in those EVAs vs the evil Angels)($2.99)

Fantastic Mr Fox ($4.99)(Geo Clooney as a wiseacre renard- French for fox. I know a kitsune is a lil fox like Shippou-Chan the adorable lil guy in InuYasha but I'm too lazy to look up the Romaji for an adult fox)

Felix the Cat/Collection (BION this feisty lil neko is French. Folks can still get those spooky Felix wall clocks with the moving eyes that follow your every move. Anyway here are some of his best gems. Enjoy)

Felix the Cat/Forgotten Friends (Dunno. Did they forget Felix or did Felix forget them? Watch it and see)

Great Mouse Detective (Vincent Price as a rat? Why not- wasn't he Irontail in an old Easter Bunny TV special?)

Green Lantern (Some guy named Meloni not Angel David)

Green Lantern/Flight (GL of JL fame but well how many GLs did Terra have anyway? I recall Jon Stewart and the guy Dave 'Angel' Borreanaz did but this is another dude altogether. What it's about is the GLs in deep crap w/ the know-it-all guys again)

Hercules (1997)(Disney's version of the strong guy Greek but Jas Woods is the villainous Hades and got the accolades)

Initial D (3rd Stage) (Racing Across the Cosmos)($2.99)

Invincible Iron Man (I thought the Iggles' Vince Papale was the 'Invincible' one but I guess Tony Steele's like that too)

Kung Fu Panda

Marco Polo/Xanadu (This one's a stretch. MP ain't the famous explorer, he's his grandson and it's his lot to make sure that Gramps MP goes down in history even if he did make a few mistakes along the way)

Mulan (Chinese gal warrior)

Next Avengers:Hero (Not the Ministry of Defense Steed& Emma, Tara, Purdey, Cathy or Doc Keel nor Richard Henry Benson nai these guys are entirely different and not really cut out to be Avengers in the first place)

Nightmare Before Christmas (Hall-o-we'en Meets Christmas- Tim Burton style. Depp had a minor role in this one and so did Paul 'Pee Wee Herman ' Rubens. Jack Skelton tries to bring Xmas to sombre Hall-o-we'entown by sleighnapping the jolly old elf- St Nick himself!)

Phantom Tollbooth (A rare early Butch 'Eddie Munster' Patrick film. If you're a bored kid and a strange box materializes in your posh LA apartment complete with a car and a tollbooth your boredom will soon be kaput! Actually teaches ltters, words, numbers and mathematics to kids)

Pokemon 3 Movie (Does anyone care who is doing what to whom in PokeyLand anymore? Besides Team Rocket and their cool theme song the rest of Pokemon is pretty damned boring! I cannot believe it garnered so many films and so blasted many episodes too! OK I admit I did use Ash, Misty, Jess, James, Piccachuu, Meowth and Brock in my fanfictions but I didn't let them use their lil furry tomos at all!)

Quest For Camelot (King Arty needs help again (so oro else is new eh?) but this time it's a girl knight or is it knightess who comes charging to his rescue! Hai I have this one too but I've never watched it. Maybe I will this time though)

Return to Neverland (Peter Pan and his creator try to rescue fair Wendy from guess who?)

Robots (Robin Williams as an android?)

Rugrats the Movie (The pint sized brigade decides to return Tommy Pickles' new lil brother Baby Dill to the baby factory and get Tommy's money back for him!)

Rugrats in Paris (I dunno who are more hilarious- the kids or the adults. This series was loaded with nuances and poor Dr Spock got a good going over from this bunch! Angelica (she's the oldest. She's three) tries to get adopted by a French femme fatale who falls for Chuckie's dad's money (Chaz is perpetually broke of course) and tries to adopt Chuckie who is probably the ugliest rugrat of them all!)

A Scanner Darkly (A dark anime based on a Philip K Dick sci fi novel which everyone has forgotten. Heavy into the drug scene which explains why Robert Downey Jr showed up for it)

Scooby-Doo (The big Dane with the dumbass owner (Shaggy) and his clueless pals (Freddie and Daphne). Arigatou Kami for the brainy albeit homely one- Velma. Anyway here are 13 of his adventures. The first one's $4.99 and the rest are $2.99 dunno why though. You seen one SD you've seen 'em all is my opinion. Never did find out who the Hell sang the title music theme. Sounded like Strawberry Alarm Clock or the Banana Splits but both deny doing it. Enjoy)

SD:Abracadabra ($4.99)

SD:Alien

SD:Aloha

SD:Chill

SD:Cyber

SD:Island

SD:Loch Ness

SD:Mexico

SD:Mummy

SD:Pirates

SD:Samurai (Now you're talking boy! Probably a roshii Shogun running around loose)

SD:Vampire

SD:Witch's Ghost (I remember this one. Mark 'Luke Skywalker' Hamel's in it. Just heard he's decided not ot voice the Joker on Batman anything anymore. Seems he doesn't like working with Kevin Conroy. I remember that SD did one called 13 Ghosts based on the old B&W Marty Milner film and the remake a few years ago with Tony 'Afraid of his own shadow' Shaloub. In the SD version they 'borrow' from 'Card Captor Sakura' a little. The hero turns out to be Vincent Price of all people!)

Secret of NIMH (Lab rats make their escape. Wonder if the Brain was with them. Maybe he was trying to bail Pinky out of a mess again)

Secrets of Kell $4.99 (Enchanted Forest in Erin)

Spirit of the Forest $4.99 (Princess Mononoke it ain't! A highway in the forest? Hell no! Not if Furi & his animal pals have anything to say about it!)

Star Chaser:Legend of Orin (Guy with a magic sword uses a space pirate's smuggler cruiser to overthrow evil robotic tyrant on faraway planet. Sound familiar? Wonder if it was the Millenium Falcon or the Outlaw Star he used for his attacks?)

Superman & Batman: Public Enemies? (I guess they got tired of the heroic crap?)

Superman: Doomsday (Alternate realities for the guy of metal?)

TMNT (Donnatella, Leonardo, Raphael and Lovable Michaelangelo with Sensei Splinter, pal April O'Neal and Casey Jones take on the Shredder and his Foot Ninjas again! Yeah I liked 'em so much I used 'em in my fanfictions although Mikey got into trouble as a rule and Donnatella became the Chief Engineer on the LA2. Named the shuttles after the boys as well)

Thunderbird 6 (Animation vs Puppetry- you decide)

Thunderbirds Are Go! (This one always reminds me of that old Sally Star chestnut- Space Angel)

Tinkerbell (Yay! Tink got her own movie! Eat yer heart out, PP!)

Titan AE (This one is a send up of Astro Boy and every other robot thing including DARYL)

Ultimate Avengers 1(Captain America and his pals save the day!)

Ultimate Avengers 2 (Wasn't one enough? Captain America & friends are back again to bail out the planet!)

Virgin Beasts (Not what it sounds like folks! This was listed under KIDS as well ya know. Surfers in a future Downunder try to save Terra. Surfers our only hope of salvation? Yoikes!!)

Waking Life (A guy in a dreamworld while he's awake? A discourse on life but not Monty Python's 'Meaning of Life')

Wallace & Gromit 5- Curse of the Were-Rabbit (Is Nick Parks getting his ideas from Courage the Cowardly Dog now? Sad)

Watchmen (Aging superheroes help out one of their own. Ever see Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy on Spong Bob? There were two really over the hill superguys ably doen by Ernie 'McHale' Borgnine and Tim 'Mr Parker' Conway!)

Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter (Rescuing a mariner from pirates)

The Wild (The 'wild' is NYC and either some animals from Africa end up there or some animals from the zoo end up in Africa. Either way pretty lame. Dunno if Steve Carrell made this scene or not)

Wizards (They're everywhere all of a sudden, ain't they? Future goody wiz vs future evil wiz and it ain't Oz neither!)

Wonder Woman (Princess Diana of Mt Olympus knocks around with the boys on JL. Remember Lynda Carter who played TV's WW? She just beat out a case against her in her plush CA neighbourhood where she was being sued because her inus (doggies) wouldn't shut the Hell up at night! She won by the way. Way to go WW!)

Sabata (an oater starring Lee van Cleef but a classic nonetheless. He was the Colonel in The Good, the Bad & the Ugly)(1970)

Return of Sabata starring Yul Brynner (not to be confused with Sabata Returns starring Van Cleef. YB tries hard but he's no

They have two adorable shikigami 'dogs' to help them. Yoshie's gramps and Taki's gran are a hoot. They are the senseis for the kids and oh yeah Yoshie (guy) not Taki (girl) likes to cook and bake especially fancy cakes! School Scare Films- Remember all those idiotic scary movies we had to sit through in school that taught us how to handle different situations? Well they're back.

Weirdo Pop- Horror film trailers & a cool cartoon re a cat, a hot air balloon, gun toting bandits & a damsel in distress. Sound too hackneyed for ya? Well the hero's the cat this time and all this happens in just 6 minutes!

RetroUSA- School Scare Films; Weirdo Pop & B-Rated strippers from the old days of the blue 'smokers' with everthing in B&W not colour.

Sex A Go Go- You can't figure it out? Then maybe you ain't old enough to be reading this.

Jiggles & Wiggles- More movie trailers and strippers.

Exotic Erotics- More strippers from the past.

Striptease- Even more strippers from the past.

Burlesque- Some really classic blasts from the past!

The other parts of Cutting Edge are:

G-Video games on TV; game cheats; game rviews.

Spike TV- Weird-o stuff!

Paranormal TV- Ghosts; the supernatural and eps of In Search Of--- not the ones hosted by Leonard 'Mr Spock' Nimoy whom I adored as host these are Alan Landsburg's later entries hosted by Mitch 'Deputy Director Skinner' (X Files) Pileggi.

IFC Free- Really strange junk shows & NO Anime on Automat anymore!

Stupid Videos- 'Nuff said?

Sick Moves- Ditto?

SYFY- Beast Legends; Caprica; Warehouse 13; Ghost Hunters; Stargate Universe; Haven; Destination: Truth.

Vegas- Las Vegas news of all sorts & strippers (the modern ones in full & glorious colour!)
