PART 2 - PRODUCTS

See Editing Instruction No. 1 in the Evaluations for cautions about named manufacturers and products. For an explanation of options and Contractor's product selection procedures, see Section 016000 "Product Requirements."

2.1MANUFACTURERS

Retain "Source Limitations" Paragraph below if required to comply with FM Global, UL, or another building code, or to comply with provisions of manufacturer's special warranty. Consult manufacturer's literature because requirements vary.

A.Source Limitations: Obtain components including [roof insulation] [fasteners] <Insert products> for roofing system from [same manufacturer as membrane roofing] [or] [manufacturer approved by membrane roofing manufacturer].

2.2PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

A.General Performance: Installed roofing and base flashings shall withstand specified uplift pressures, thermally induced movement, and exposure to weather without failure due to defective manufacture, fabrication, installation, or other defects in construction. Roofing and base flashings shall remain watertight.

1.Accelerated Weathering: Roofing system shall withstand 2000 hours of exposure when tested according to ASTM G 152, ASTM G 154, or ASTM G 155.

2.Impact Resistance: Roofing system shall resist impact damage when tested according to ASTM D 3746 or ASTM D 4272.

B.Material Compatibility: Roofing materials shall be compatible with one another and adjacent materials under conditions of service and application required, as demonstrated by roofing manufacturer based on testing and field experience.

Retain "Roofing System Design" Paragraph below if roofing system is to be designed to withstand uplift pressure established by ASCE/SEI 7. Indicate dimensions of corners, perimeter, and field of roof on Drawings.

C.Roofing System Design: Tested by a qualified testing agency to resist the following uplift pressures:

1.Corner Uplift Pressure: <Insert lbf/sq. ft. (kPa/sq. m)>.

2.Perimeter Uplift Pressure: <Insert lbf/sq. ft. (kPa/sq. m)>.

3.Field-of-Roof Uplift Pressure: <Insert lbf/sq. ft. (kPa/sq. m)>.

Retain "FM Global Listing" Paragraph below if Project is FM Global insured or if FM Global requirements set a minimum quality standard. Coordinate requirements in FM Global classification with other requirements in this Section. Loosely laid and ballasted roofing systems cannot be approved by FM Global but may be accepted on a project-by-project basis. For further clarification, consult FM Global.

D.FM Global Listing: Roofing, base flashings, and component materials shall comply with requirements in FM Global 4450 or FM Global 4470 as part of a roofing system, and shall be listed in FM Global's "RoofNav" for Class 1 or noncombustible construction, as applicable. Identify materials with FM Global markings.

Retain one option in "Fire/Windstorm Classification" Subparagraph below based on windstorm classification of Project. FM Global Loss Prevention Data Sheet 1-28 multiplies the actual field-of-roof uplift pressure by a factor of 2 to obtain the factored pressure, the number that establishes the minimum FM Global approval rating. Verify availability of roofing systems that comply with these classifications. Other options for classifications increase in increments of 15 (e.g., Classes 1A-135, 1A-150, 1A-165, and higher). "Class 1A" signifies complying with ASTM E 108, Class A fire performance for FM Global-approved Class 1 roof covers. For areas having three or more hailstorms annually, FM Global recommends using roofing systems rated SH (severe hail) instead of MH (moderate hail).

1.Fire/Windstorm Classification: [Class 1A-60] [Class 1A-75] [Class 1A-90] [Class 1A-105] [Class 1A-120] <Insert class>.

2.Hail-Resistance Rating: [MH] [SH].

Retain "Solar Reflectance Index," "Energy Star Listing," or "Energy Performance" Paragraph below if "cool-roof" performance is required. Verify that EPDM roofing specified complies before retaining.

Retain "Solar Reflectance Index" Paragraph below if required for LEED-NC, LEED-CS, or LEED for Schools Credit SS 7.2. Requirement is minimum for roofs with slopes of 2:12 or less; revise if using roofs with slopes steeper than 2:12.

E.Solar Reflectance Index: Not less than [78] [29] when calculated according to ASTM E 1980, based on testing identical products by a qualified testing agency.

Retain "Energy Star Listing" Paragraph below for roofs that must comply with the DOE's ENERGY STAR requirements. The DOE's ENERGY STAR "Roof Products Qualified Product List" is available in PDF at www.energystar.gov.

F.Energy Star Listing: Roofing system shall be listed on the DOE's ENERGY STAR "Roof Products Qualified Product List" for [low] [steep]-slope roof products.

Usually retain "Energy Performance" Paragraph below for roofs that must comply with California Energy Commission's CEC-Title 24. Options are values required for low-slope roofs by prescriptive approach; revise if other values are required for building-envelope trade-off approach or whole-building performance approach. A list of products tested according to CRRC-1 with their test values is available in PDF at www.coolroofs.org.

G.Energy Performance: Roofing system shall have an initial solar reflectance index of not less than [0.70] <Insert value> and an emissivity of not less than [0.75] <Insert value> when tested according to CRRC-1.

Retain one of three options in "Exterior Fire-Test Exposure" Paragraph below based on fire classification of roof assembly and roof covering. Delete paragraph if including exterior fire-test exposure in FM Global class designation.

H.Exterior Fire-Test Exposure: ASTM E 108 or UL 790, [Class A] [Class B] [Class C]; for application and roof slopes indicated; testing by a qualified testing agency. Identify products with appropriate markings of applicable testing agency.

Retain "Fire-Resistance Ratings" Paragraph below only if products specified are part of a fire-resistance-rated assembly. Indicate rating, testing agency, and testing agency's design designation on Drawings.

I.Fire-Resistance Ratings: Comply with fire-resistance-rated assembly designs indicated. Identify products with appropriate markings of applicable testing agency.

2.3EPDM ROOFING

Class A exterior fire-test rating for either an adhered or a mechanically fastened EPDM roofing system may require a specially formulated fire-retardant sheet; consult manufacturer.

A.EPDM: ASTM D 4637, [Type I, nonreinforced,] [Type II, scrim or fabric internally reinforced,] uniform, flexible EPDM sheet.

Retain "Manufacturers" Subparagraph and list of manufacturers below to require products from manufacturers listed or a comparable product from other manufacturers.

1.Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, [provide products by the following] [provide products by one of the following] [available manufacturers offering products that may be incorporated into the Work include, but are not limited to, the following]:

Retain one color option in "Exposed Face Color" Subparagraph below.

Retain "Fabric-Backed EPDM" Paragraph below if specifying fabric-backed EPDM for adhered installation, which is only available from Carlisle and Versico.

B.Fabric-Backed EPDM: ASTM D 4637, Type III, nonreinforced, uniform, flexible EPDM sheet, laminated to a nonwoven polyester fabric backing except at selvages.

Retain "Manufacturers" Subparagraph and list of manufacturers below to require products from manufacturers listed or a comparable product from other manufacturers.

1.Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, [provide products by the following] [provide products by one of the following] [available manufacturers offering products that may be incorporated into the Work include, but are not limited to, the following]:

2.4AUXILIARY ROOFING MATERIALS

A.General: Auxiliary materials recommended by roofing system manufacturer for intended use and compatible with roofing.

1.Liquid-type auxiliary materials shall comply with VOC limits of authorities having jurisdiction.

Retain first subparagraph below if required for LEED-NC or LEED-CS Credit IEQ 4.1.

2.Adhesives and sealants that are not on the exterior side of weather barrier shall comply with the following limits for VOC content:

a.Plastic Foam Adhesives: 50 g/L.

b.Gypsum Board and Panel Adhesives: 50 g/L.

c.Multipurpose Construction Adhesives: 70 g/L.

d.Fiberglass Adhesives: 80 g/L.

e.Single-Ply Roof Membrane Adhesives: 250 g/L.

f.Single-Ply Roof Membrane Sealants: 450 g/L.

g.Nonmembrane Roof Sealants: 300 g/L.

h.Sealant Primers for Nonporous Substrates: 250 g/L.

i.Sealant Primers for Porous Substrates: 775 g/L.

j.Other Adhesives and Sealants: 250 g/L.

Retain subparagraph below if required for LEED for Schools.

3.Adhesives and sealants that are not on the exterior side of weather barrier shall comply with the testing and product requirements of the California Department of Public Health's (formerly, the California Department of Health Services') "Standard Method for the Testing and Evaluation of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions from Indoor Sources Using Environmental Chambers."

B.Sheet Flashing: 60-mil- (1.5-mm-) thick EPDM, partially cured or cured, according to application.

Retain "Protection Sheet" Paragraph below if applicable. Carlisle and Versico offer epichlorohydrin, and Firestone offers neoprene as a protection sheet over EPDM to resist hydrocarbons, non-aromatic solvents, grease, and oil.

C.Protection Sheet: Epichlorohydrin or neoprene nonreinforced flexible sheet, 55- to 60-mil- (1.4- to 1.5-mm-) thick, recommended by EPDM manufacturer for resistance to hydrocarbons, non-aromatic solvents, grease, and oil.

Retain "Bonding Adhesive" Paragraph below for fully adhering standard EPDM membranes and flashings to substrate. Also retain paragraph for adhering perimeters of mechanically fastened or loosely laid and ballasted membranes if applicable.

D.Bonding Adhesive: Manufacturer's standard[, water based].

Retain "Modified Asphaltic Fabric-Backed Membrane Adhesive," "Water-Based, Fabric-Backed Membrane Adhesive," or "Low-Rise, Urethane, Fabric-Backed Membrane Adhesive" Paragraph below to adhere fabric-backed EPDM membrane roofing. First two paragraphs describe proprietary cold-applied adhesive. Third paragraph describes a proprietary spray-applied, low-rise urethane.

E.Modified Asphaltic Fabric-Backed Membrane Adhesive: Roofing system manufacturer's standard modified asphalt, asbestos-free, cold-applied adhesive formulated for compatibility and use with fabric-backed membrane roofing.

F.Water-Based, Fabric-Backed Membrane Adhesive: Roofing system manufacturer's standard water-based, cold-applied adhesive formulated for compatibility and use with fabric-backed membrane roofing.

G.Low-Rise, Urethane, Fabric-Backed Membrane Adhesive: Roof system manufacturer's standard spray-applied, low-rise, two-component urethane adhesive formulated for compatibility and use with fabric-backed membrane roofing.

Retain one or both options in "Seaming Material" Paragraph below based on seaming method required. Retain both options if selection of seaming method is Contractor's choice.

H.Seaming Material: [Single-component, butyl splicing adhesive and splice cleaner] [Manufacturer's standard, synthetic-rubber polymer primer and 3-inch- (75-mm-) wide minimum, butyl splice tape with release film].

I.Lap Sealant: Manufacturer's standard, single-component sealant[, colored to match membrane roofing].

J.Water Cutoff Mastic: Manufacturer's standard butyl mastic sealant.

K.Metal Termination Bars: Manufacturer's standard, predrilled stainless-steel or aluminum bars, approximately 1 by 1/8 inch (25 by 3 mm) thick; with anchors.

L.Metal Battens: Manufacturer's standard, aluminum-zinc-alloy-coated or zinc-coated steel sheet, approximately 1 inch wide by 0.05 inch thick (25 mm wide by 1.3 mm thick), prepunched.

M.Fasteners: Factory-coated steel fasteners and metal or plastic plates complying with corrosion-resistance provisions in FM Global 4470, designed for fastening membrane to substrate, and acceptable to roofing system manufacturer.

N.Miscellaneous Accessories: Provide pourable sealers, preformed cone and vent sheet flashings, molded pipe boot flashings, preformed inside and outside corner sheet flashings, reinforced EPDM securement strips, T-joint covers, in-seam sealants, termination reglets, cover strips, and other accessories.

1.Provide white flashing accessories for white EPDM membrane roofing.

Retain "Liquid Coating" Paragraph below if a color coating of membrane roofing or base flashing is required for aesthetic reasons or improved reflectance.

O.Liquid Coating: Product specifically formulated for coating EPDM membrane roofing, as follows:

1.Type: Acrylic emulsion complying with ASTM D 6083.

2.Type: Chlorosulfonated polyethylene complying with ASTM D 3468.

Retain one color option in "Color" Subparagraph below. Verify availability with manufacturer.

3.Color: [White] [Gray] [Tan] [As selected by Architect from manufacturer's full range] <Insert color>.

2.5SUBSTRATE BOARDS

Retain one or more of four "Substrate Board" paragraphs below if required, or delete this article. Substrate boards may serve as building-code-required thermal barriers, separating foam insulation from steel or wood deck. They may also be used over steel deck as part of a fire-resistance-rated roofing system or to provide a smooth substrate for a vapor retarder. Verify suitability for application. Roofing manufacturers do not recognize substrate boards to be part of roofing system.

A.Substrate Board: ASTM C 1396/C 1396M, Type X gypsum board, 5/8 inch (16 mm) thick.

B.Substrate Board: ASTM C 1177/C 1177M, glass-mat, water-resistant gypsum substrate, [1/4 inch (6 mm)] [1/2 inch (13 mm)] [Type X, 5/8 inch (16 mm)] thick.

1.Basis-of-Design Products: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Georgia-Pacific Gypsum LLC; DensDeck or comparable product from one of the following:

a.CertainTeed Corporation.

b..

c.USG Corporation.

d.<Insert manufacturer's name>.

C.Substrate Board: ASTM C 1278/C 1278M, cellulosic-fiber-reinforced, water-resistant gypsum substrate, [1/4 inch (6 mm)] [3/8 inch (10 mm)] [1/2 inch (13 mm)] [5/8 inch (16 mm)] thick.

Retain "Products" Subparagraph and list of manufacturers and products below to require specific products or a comparable product from other manufacturers.

1.Products: Subject to compliance with requirements, [provide the following] [provide one of the following] [available products that may be incorporated into the Work include, but are not limited to, the following]:

a.USG Corporation; Securock Gypsum-Fiber Roof Board.

b.<Insert manufacturer's name; product name or designation>.

D.Substrate Board: ASTM C 728, perlite board, [3/4 inch (19 mm)] [1 inch (25 mm)] thick, seal coated.

E.Fasteners: Factory-coated steel fasteners and metal or plastic plates complying with corrosion-resistance provisions in FM Global 4470, designed for fastening substrate panel to roof deck.

2.6VAPOR RETARDER

Retain this article if vapor retarders are required. Review compatibility of vapor retarder with other roofing system materials. A substrate board or layer of insulation is needed because vapor retarders cannot be placed directly over a steel deck. If necessary, retitle article "Air Retarder" or "Vapor/Air Retarder," depending on function of retarder.

A.Polyethylene Film: ASTM D 4397, 6 mils (0.15 mm) thick, minimum, with maximum permeance rating of 0.13 perm (7.5 ng/Pa x s x sq. m).

Retain "Tape" or "Adhesive" Subparagraph below.

1.Tape: Pressure-sensitive tape of type recommended by vapor-retarder manufacturer for sealing joints and penetrations in vapor retarder.

2.Adhesive: Manufacturer's standard lap adhesive, FM Global approved for vapor-retarder application.

"Laminated Sheet" Paragraph below describes Reef Industries' "Griffolyn Type-55 FR; revise description to suit another product if required.

a.Laminated Sheet: Polyethylene laminate, two layers, reinforced with cord grid, with maximum permeance rating of 0.06 perm (3.5 ng/Pa x s x sq. m).

3.Tape: Pressure-sensitive tape of type recommended by vapor-retarder manufacturer for sealing joints and penetrations in vapor retarder.

Retain first "Self-Adhering-Sheet Vapor Retarder" Paragraph below if rubberized asphalt adhesive is required and second if butyl rubber adhesive is required. Butyl rubber adhesive might be used in hot desert or high-altitude climates.

B.Self-Adhering-Sheet Vapor Retarder: ASTM D 1970, polyethylene film laminated to layer of rubberized asphalt adhesive, minimum 40-mil- (1.0-mm-) total thickness; maximum permeance rating of 0.1 perm (6 ng/Pa x s x sq. m); cold applied, with slip-resisting surface and release paper backing. Provide primer when recommended by vapor-retarder manufacturer.

C.Self-Adhering-Sheet Vapor Retarder: Polyethylene film laminated to layer of butyl rubber adhesive, minimum 30-mil- (0.76-mm-) total thickness; maximum permeance rating of 0.1 perm (6 ng/Pa x s x sq. m); cold applied, with slip-resisting surface and release paper backing. Provide primer when recommended by vapor-retarder manufacturer.

Retain "Glass-Fiber Felts" Paragraph below if a built-up vapor retarder composed of felts and hot asphalt is required.

D.Glass-Fiber Felts: ASTM D 2178, Type IV, asphalt impregnated.

2.7ROOF INSULATION

If retaining more than one insulation material in this article, indicate location of each on Drawings, or indicate where each layer is used in roofing system. If allowing Contractor to select more than one insulation material, limit options to insulations that comply with Project requirements and limitations. Coordinate insulation selection and thicknesses indicated on Drawings with adjoining construction as well as HVAC design and energy program.

Roofing system manufacturers may require use of their own insulations or limit approvals to specific insulation manufacturers. Retain second option in "General" Paragraph below if FM Global approval is required.

A.General: Preformed roof insulation boards manufactured[ or approved] by EPDM roofing manufacturer, selected from manufacturer's standard sizes suitable for application, of thicknesses indicated[ and that produce FM Global-approved roof insulation].

B.Extruded-Polystyrene Board Insulation: ASTM C 578, [Type IV, 1.6-lb/cu. ft. (26-kg/cu. m)] [Type X, 1.3-lb/cu. ft. (21-kg/cu. m)] minimum density, square edged.

Retain "Molded-Polystyrene Board Insulation" Paragraph below for homogenous, unfaced, molded-polystyrene insulation; retain one of three options for density of insulation. Higher-density insulation offers improved compressive resistance, greater resistance to crushing under construction loads, better ability to span steel deck flutes, and more rigid substrate. However, costs increase as density increases.

C.Molded-Polystyrene Board Insulation: ASTM C 578, [Type II, 1.35-lb/cu. ft. (22-kg/cu. m)] [Type VIII, 1.15-lb/cu. ft. (18-kg/cu. m)] [Type IX, 1.8-lb/cu. ft. (29-kg/cu. m)] minimum density.

Retain "Composite Molded-Polystyrene Board Insulation" Paragraph below for composite molded-polystyrene insulation.

D.Composite Molded-Polystyrene Board Insulation: ASTM C 578, [Type II, 1.35-lb/cu. ft. (22-kg/cu. m)] [Type VIII, 1.15-lb/cu. ft. (18-kg/cu. m)] [Type IX, 1.8-lb/cu. ft. (29-kg/cu. m)] minimum density, with factory-applied facings, as follows:

Retain one of two "Facer" subparagraphs below, or revise to another board facer if required. Verify availability with manufacturers. If a field-installed cover board is required, see "Insulation Accessories" Article for options.

1.Facer: ASTM C 208, Type II, Grade 2, cellulosic-fiber insulation board, asphalt coated, 1/2 inch (13 mm) thick.

2.Facer: DOC PS 2, Exposure 1, oriented strand board, 7/16 inch (11 mm) thick.

Retain "Polyisocyanurate Board Insulation" Paragraph below for polyisocyanurate insulation with felt or glass-fiber mat facers. Retain one of two options; second has higher compressive strength. Revise to Type I, Class 1 if aluminum-foil-faced insulation is required. Verify availability of options with insulation manufacturers. Retain paragraph with "Composite Polyisocyanurate Board Insulation" paragraph below if combining composite and noncomposite polyisocyanurate board insulation in two or more layers.

E.Polyisocyanurate Board Insulation: ASTM C 1289, [Type II, Class 1, Grade 2] [Type II, Class 1, Grade 3], felt or glass-fiber mat facer on both major surfaces.

Retain "Composite Polyisocyanurate Board Insulation" Paragraph below for composite polyisocyanurate insulation faced with factory-applied facing board on one surface and felt or glass-fiber mat facer on the other. Verify availability of facing board types and thicknesses with composite insulation manufacturers.

F.Composite Polyisocyanurate Board Insulation: ASTM C 1289, with factory-applied facing board on one major surface, as indicated below by type, and felt or glass-fiber mat facer on the other.

1.Type IV, cellulosic-fiber-insulation-board facer, Grade 2, 1/2 inch (13 mm) thick.

2.Type V, oriented strand board facer, 7/16 inch (11 mm) thick.

3.Type VII, glass-mat-faced gypsum board facer, 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick.

G.Perlite Board Insulation: ASTM C 728, rigid, mineral-aggregate thermal insulation board composed of expanded perlite, cellulosic fibers, binders, and waterproofing agents with top surface seal coated.

H.Cellulosic-Fiber Board Insulation: ASTM C 208, Type II, Grade 2, fibrous-felted, rigid insulation boards of wood fiber or other cellulosic-fiber and water-resistant binders, asphalt impregnated, chemically treated for deterioration.

Cellular-glass insulation is rarely used in EPDM roofing systems. Board dimensions are 24 by 48 inches (600 by 1219 mm).

I.Cellular-Glass Board Insulation: ASTM C 552, Type IV, rigid, cellular-glass thermal board insulation faced with manufacturer's standard kraft-paper sheets.

Retain "Tapered Insulation" Paragraph below if tapered insulation is required. Most of the commonly used insulations are available in tapered form; verify with manufacturers. With some exceptions, codes require roof slopes to be not less than 1/4 inch per 12 inches (1:48). Insulation is manufactured with tapers ranging from 1/8 to 1/2 inch per 12 inches (1:96 to 1:24).

J.Tapered Insulation: Provide factory-tapered insulation boards fabricated to slope of [1/4 inch per 12 inches (1:48)] <Insert slope> unless otherwise indicated.

Retain paragraph below with or without "Tapered Insulation" Paragraph above.

K.Provide preformed saddles, crickets, tapered edge strips, and other insulation shapes where indicated for sloping to drain. Fabricate to slopes indicated.

2.8INSULATION ACCESSORIES

A.General: Roof insulation accessories recommended by insulation manufacturer for intended use and compatibility with roofing.

Retain "Fasteners" Paragraph below if insulation requires mechanical fastening. Retain option if separate cover boards require fastening.

B.Fasteners: Factory-coated steel fasteners and metal or plastic plates complying with corrosion-resistance provisions in FM Global 4470, designed for fastening roof insulation[ and cover boards] to substrate, and acceptable to roofing system manufacturer.

C.Insulation Adhesive: Insulation manufacturer's recommended adhesive formulated to attach roof insulation to substrate or to another insulation layer as follows:

Retain one of three subparagraphs below.

1.Modified asphaltic, asbestos-free, cold-applied adhesive.

2.Bead-applied, low-rise, one-component or multicomponent urethane adhesive.

3.Full-spread spray-applied, low-rise, two-component urethane adhesive.

Retain one of four "Cover Board" paragraphs below if required. Cover or overlay boards are usually needed over noncomposite foam insulation.

D.Cover Board: ASTM C 208, Type II, Grade 2, cellulosic-fiber insulation board, 1/2 inch (13 mm) thick.

E.Cover Board: DOC PS 2, Exposure 1, oriented strand board, 7/16 inch (11 mm) thick.

F.Cover Board: ASTM C 1177/C 1177M, glass-mat, water-resistant gypsum substrate, [1/4 inch (6 mm)] [1/2 inch (13 mm)] [5/8 inch (16 mm)] thick[, factory primed].

H.Protection Mat: Woven or nonwoven polypropylene, polyolefin, or polyester fabric, water permeable and resistant to UV degradation, type and weight as recommended by roofing system manufacturer for application.

2.9ASPHALT MATERIALS

Retain this article if adhering fabric-backed membrane roofing or roof insulation, or if creating a built-up vapor retarder composed from felts and hot asphalt.

A.Roofing Asphalt: [ASTM D 312, Type III or Type IV] [ASTM D 6152, SEBS modified].

Retain "Asphalt Primer" Paragraph below if priming concrete roof deck.

2.10BALLAST

Retain this article for loosely laid and ballasted installations.

Retain "Aggregate Ballast" Paragraph below for aggregate-ballasted installations. If smooth-faced aggregate is preferred, verify availability and cost. Membrane roofing in contact with sharper crushed aggregate needs added protection to prevent puncturing. Insert requirements for color if required.

Retain one or more of three "Size" subparagraphs below to suit Project. Revise descriptions if other sizes are permitted. SPRI RP-4 also allows ASTM D 448, Sizes 1, 2, 3, or 24 to be used where Size 4 is required, and Size 1 where Size 2 is required.

1.Size: ASTM D 448, Size 4, ranging in size from 3/4 to 1-1/2 inches (19 to 38 mm).

2.Size: ASTM D 448, Size 2, ranging in size from 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 inches (38 to 63 mm).

Ballast size in "Size" Subparagraph below is based on recommendations in FM Global Loss Prevention Data Sheet 1-29.

3.Size: ASTM D 448, Size 3, ranging in size from 1 to 2 inches (25 to 50 mm).

Pavers may be used alone or with aggregate ballast for functional or decorative purposes.

B.Lightweight Roof Pavers: Interlocking, lightweight concrete units; grooved back, with four-way drainage capability; beveled, doweled, or otherwise profiled; and as follows:

Insert weight of roof paver in "Weight" Subparagraph below. SPRI identifies interlocking, lightweight roof pavers as weighing at least 10 lb/sq. ft. (50 kg/sq. m) but not exceeding 18 lb/sq. ft. (90 kg/sq. m). Verify availability with manufacturers.
