Traction converter IGBT (SR)

LP noticed that fault message F0504P2 and Bogie2, MC2 isolate. DDS data was checked and following fault messages were logged.- MC2 over current MC2 bg-2 got isolate

ABB engineer checked the loco and provided modified software in both traction convertors (ABB IGBT) for MC over current problem. Loco was checked in shed, found normal and after thorough testing; loco was released on line for passenger services.

Train arrived PSA Yd/R-6 at 13.45hrs. LP taken over charge and planned to attach the loco on AWB/BCN to work in UP direction from PSA. While performing shunting LP experienced DJ tripping with heavy flashing. On checking found relay QLM dropped alone

At ELS/JHS on 12.03.16 checked all parameter of QLM drop and found normal. QLM CT also found ok. Loco kept under observation for 2 days in shunting found normal. So given for service on 14.03.16. Further no trouble reported from line. DGA of GR & TFP checked found ok. BDV=50 KV. QLM setting checked on test panel & found normal (9.0 Amp) Last DGA (GR & TFP) checked on dt. 06.01.16 during IC sch. & found normal. QLM relay make AAL. Mfg year 2014. last calibrated on 06.01.16 during IC. Setting found normal (9.0 Amp). CHT terrute also checked found normal.

During checking it was observed that air leakage had been occurred from BPCP module of CCB. On further action it was found that one coal piece of size 8mm got inserted into the BPCP. Same removed and cleaned BPCP was refitted.

1. Loco no-28656 failed on dt-22.02.16 at ADTP station of CKP divn./SER. LP reported that the safety valve of the TFP of the loco is blown out and the TFP oil is splashed near HT compartment. On checking the relay panel no safety relay found dropped. 2. Loco arrived at ELS/ANGL on dt-03.03.16 as dead condition. 3. Firm staff of M/s-Hirect arrived at shed on dt-08.03.16. The TFP of the loco is jointly checked and the following observations are made: (i) Safety valve of the TFP is in blown out condition and TFP oil is splashed around the TFP.TFP oil is also found accumulated in oil trap chamber. (ii) From MPCS data it is confirmed that QLM relay was not dropped at the time of failure. (iii) DGA of the TFP oil is carried out and the volume of concentrated gases found increased abnormally as following; Item PPM Value Item PPM value Methane 185.559 Ethylene 70.172 Ethane 1055.33 Acetylene 769.024 Hydrogen 477.807 CO 131.861 4. Connections of TFP bushing found properly connected & no abnormality noticed. QLM relay is also checked in test bench & found working normal and the QLM circuit continuity also checked & found normal. 5. The Value of Voltage Ratio Test is carried out with a Supply Voltage of 230 Volt 1-Ø AC. It is observed that the voltage across the a3-a4 & a5-a6 bushing drops abnormally. 6. The IR value measurement carried out & the following values are found ok. Between Terminals Standard Value as per the Rly. Actual value in MΩ A0-A33-A34 To E >100 MΩ 700 a0-a1 To E 1000 a7-a8 To E 700 a3 –a4 To E 1000 a5-a6 To E 1000 A0-A33-A34 To a3 –a4 1000 A0-A33-A34 To a5-a6 1000 A0-A33-A34 To a0-a1 1000 a0-a1 To a3 –a4 1000 a7-a8 To a5 –a6 300 a3 –a4 To a5 –a6 800 7. The GR assembly was removed from the TFP. The leads of TFP at Oil Trap chamber are visually checked. No abnormality observed, however oil is blackish in colour.

Remarks of ELS/ANGL: i. As per the test carried out & result obtained, it is suspected some kind of internal flashing in auto winding of the TFP. ii. As the TFP is under warranty , so, Warranty of the main transformer has already been claimed vide letter no.ELS/ANGL/S-59/16/554/1125, Dtd. 03.03.2016 & uploaded in WFMS(Warranty Failure Management Syst em) Portal.(Copy enclosed) iii. Hence, firm is advised to carry out the repairing of the Transformer at firm premises as early as possible to avoid loco detention on Transformer account.

Train stopped KMS DN main line at 4:45 for line clear. Loco tripped in standing position and message given low/No OHE voltage. LP talk with CLI B.Jha at 5:25 then BLRDJ pressed still LSCHBA not extinguish. Found DJ hold, gave ready at 5:30. LP closed BLVMT & BLCP but after 6th notch loco tripped again . Loco made dead for 5 minutes then energised found loco normal, gave ready at 6:45, left- 7:00.

Loco checked by LP and BA off for 5 minutes then energised & loco working normal. Loco checked in shed on dt. 08.03.16 during major sch. & found normal. DJ pressure checked also & found normal (5.2 kg/cm2). FDCS data downloaded & analysed. No trouble noticed in FDCS data. FDCS make ICE

At BA ON position, battery voltage was recorded 94 volt, on closing DJ, BA voltage was not increasing, CHBA ampere meter showing in –ve side) and loco got shut down, when BA was made to zero while DJ was closed and SIV ‘ON’ condition.On further detail checking it was noticed that K-8 contactor of CHBA was not passing feed

As per Firm K-8 contactor have to by passed in all 06 newly commissioned loco.

K-8 contactor of CHBA was not passing feed (Connected of the output of CHBA (-ve) side. CHBA details: Make Siemens SIV; Sr. No. STB11W0919, DOC: 22.06.15

To avoid the failure of CHBA due to K8 contactor malfunction, K8 contactor was bypassed by connecting –ve of battery at SB terminals with color coding to avoid reverse polarity. A letter is written to HQ for informing RDSO/OEM to provided solution of the problem of K-8 contactor in M/s Siemens make 180 KVA SIV equipped with KRF CHBA in Newly commissioned locos vide letter no. TRS/BRCY /T/31A dtd. 17.02.16

Line converter 1 of Traction Converter 1 got isolated due to fault messages “TC1:0076 LC 1 isolated, TC1:0083 Disturbance communication PEC Int 1-LC1U_GD” Hence loco was called dead to ELS BRC for detailed checking and same informed to firm M/s ABB for taking necessary action. Fault data was taken by firm representative and sent to M/s ABB Bangalore. Following fault messages were found logged: TC1:0076 LC 1 isolated TC1:0083 Disturbance communication PEC Int 1-LC1U_GD
