CV Show Newsletter 4 : 24 March 2016
For immediate release

This is the latest in a series of CV Show Newsletters, detailing exhibitors’ stories about their Show plans.

New Hilux makes UK debut

Stand 4E10
The CV show sees the first UK appearance for Toyota’s new, tougher and stronger Hilux.
The Hilux has a long-established reputation for exceptional quality, durability and reliability, and has proved its mettle in the world’s most extreme environments.
The new model is longer and wider and has increased all-wheel drive capabilities, thanks to higher ground clearance and changes to the ladder chassis that have delivered a 20% increase in torsional rigidity.
The deck is now the widest in its class and benefits from a reinforced structure, redesigned floor ribs and a stronger header panel, all of which helps improve its ability to carry heavy loads.
Equal attention has been paid to improving the powertrain, with the debut of a new 2.4-litre D-4D global diesel (GD) engine, available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox. This new powerplant provides vastly improved torque delivery in the low and medium speed ranges, with class-leading fuel economy.
The new Hilux will continue to offer the same versatile choice of body styles: Single, Extra and Double Cab derivatives with a choice of two-wheel or all-wheel drive.
Improvements to the interior provide a more spacious and comfortable feel, combining SUV-style practicality with a more refined ambience. Hilux gains a new tablet-like seven inch touch screen multimedia system, incorporating the latest Toyota Touch 2 with Go system, including audio, connectivity and satellite navigation functions.
Toyota Safety Sense will also be available, equipping Hilux with a range of advanced safety features. Final specifications will be announced ahead of UK sales starting in July.

No more runaways thanks to Vision Techniques

Stand 5D110
Vehicle safety experts Vision Techniques will be giving visitors the opportunity to prevent vehicle runaways with an interactive demo on their stand at this year’s Show.
The event will be one of the first opportunities for attendees to see VT BrakeSafe, the only safety system that automatically applies the vehicle handbrake if a driver forgets to do so when leaving the vehicle.
The new, unique safety system has gained a lot of interest from companies across the UK, so bringing the technology to the CV show is an exciting prospect for the safety experts and an opportunity to demonstrate it to potential new clients.
Sadly, runaway accidents continue to affect freight, construction and waste vehicles across the UK, with existing technology only able to sound an alarm – not prevent a possible accident, making VT BrakeSafe a one-of-a-kind solution.
As well as being the first anti-rollaway system, BrakeSafe will activate even when the vehicle’s ignition is switched off, and is suitable for installation into new vehicles or as a retrofit option.

Helping demonstrate the handbrake system will be technical manager, Nigel Armstrong, developer of the VT BrakeSafe system.
“With the overwhelming interest we’ve had in BrakeSafe over the past six months we’ve realised that runaways are our industries silent danger,” he said. “It’s something people don’t talk about in the hope it won’t affect them. Now, there’s really no excuse because we can prevent it from happening once and for all.”

Wide range of workshop products form Worky

Stand 4E90
The Italian manufacturer of exhaust gas extraction, fluid distribution systems, welding fume and dry sanding dust extraction, Worky, will be using the Show to raise awareness of its workshop products in the UK market.
The company manufactures workshop products and also designs service bays and body shops, with technical solutions for the repair of motorcycles, cars, trucks and other automotive applications.
Its focus is to maximise the overall organisation of a given workplace, pay attention to the required standards of vehicle manufacturers and focus on the productivity and safety of staff, while maintaining a strong degree of functionality.
Worky claims its approach helps take care of each company’s individual values, by taking the view that a workshop should be like a house, where everything has its place and those within feel at home.
Passion, competence, experience, service, attention to detail and know-how are the company’s key strengths, and Worky’s team look forward to meeting potential new customers to help them tailor their workshop experience to fit their businesses.

Life begins at 40 for Solomon Commercials

Stand 3A120
Solomon Commercials will be using the Show to celebrate its 40th Anniversary, and the three vehicles on display will demonstrate the company’s ability to produce bespoke designs for every customer.
An 18-tonne body with a 14-pallet capacity will be exhibiting a special 40th Anniversary livery to celebrate the event.
Mounted to a Mercedes chassis cab, the body has a multi-temperature design, allowing for chilled and frozen temperatures on board. Externally, it also demonstrates Solomon’s highly successful and proven Slipstream system for aerodynamically efficient over cab fridge units.
On another Mercedes chassis, a low profile body designed for under-mount refrigeration systems will be displayed. The design features Solomon’s registered design of a full front and ‘Kamm-tail’ rear curve, to keep airflow as smooth as possible over the vehicle.
Along with an underslung tail lift, this creates a sleek looking vehicle. Another multi-temperature system, this time controlled using a combination of an evaporator and fan kit, further improves the efficiency of the vehicle.
Completing the stand is an example of Solomon’s industry leading home delivery vehicles. Mounted on an Iveco Daily chassis cab, the vehicle features three completely independent temperature zones within its lightweight aerodynamic package.

Cyclist Detection Camera offered as part of Exeros VIDI-MATICS package

Stand 4K75
A wide range of HD camera systems including an award-winning system designed for detecting the presence of cyclists alongside heavy commercial vehicles will be among the many state-of-the-art features being shown by Exeros Technologies at this year’s Show.
Established in 2009, the company is involved in a number of projects for top 50 UK fleet operators to ensure commercial vehicles meet national safety standards and achieve compliance with Transport For London schemes, including FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme), CLOCS (Construction, Logistics and Cycle Safety) and Crossrail.
Exeros provide solutions for prestigious clients across Europe, Africa, South America and Asia, which has led to worldwide brand recognition. The company received industry recognition with the Tip-Ex Show Innovation Award 2015 for its Cyclist Detection Camera, which is just one of a number of camera systems designed to improve driver visibility and contribute to higher levels of road safety.
The company’s VIDI-MATICS package is a small camera system capable of automatically uploading all accident video and vehicle data to a cloud service. By logging into the portal, fleet managers are able to fully assess risky drivers and monitor behaviour without the need to manually upload data. The VIDI-MATICS software can be used to generate printable accident reports and statistical data.
An Escalation platform, screened incidents, GPS and remote playback are just a few of the advanced features available to operators using it.

Descartes SmartAlert introduces new compliance package

Stand 4H20
Descartes Systems Group will show the new SmartAlerts enhancement to its SmartCompliance Software-as-a-Service products at the Show.

Transport operators will be able to see how the SmartAlerts automatic text and email alerts can keep them one step ahead of potential tachograph, drivers’ hours and driving licence issues by eliminating manual data checks and minimising the opportunity for human error.
Representing a significant step forward in compliance management and improved operational efficiency, SmartAlerts works with the Descartes Smartanalysis tachograph analyser and has recently been extended to the company’s SmartLicence offering.

Descartes Smartanalysis software is an industry-leading digital tachograph analysis software for safeguarding compliance with drivers’ hours, working time legislation and tachograph regulations.
Combined with SmartAlerts, Transport Managers can be automatically notified of a number of potential concerns around driver card and vehicle downloads, or driver card file download warnings, making it possible to take immediate action.

With the abolition of the paper driving licence counterpart in June 2015, the Descartes SmartLicence online tool provides customers with a central system for monitoring drivers’ licences and verifying details with the DVLA. Through the provision of a historical log of checks and changes to licence details, SmartLicence allows Transport Managers to assess the risk of licenced drivers and manage the frequency of checks accordingly.

Andrew Tavener, Head of Marketing for Descartes Systems UK, said, “With SmartAlerts, it’s even easier for customers to ensure fleet compliance with the latest UK and EU laws, as it enables them to make the shift from managing data to managing exceptions. By flagging compliance anomalies on a weekly basis, transport managers can maximise operational effectiveness and address potential issues without delay.”
