Printers directly connect to PCs
Easy Printer Care does not support inkjet printers directly connected to the PC running EPC.
Easy Printer Care (EPC) supported LaserJet printers can be directly connected to the PC running EPC. For proper communication these printers need to be installed from the CD or from the printing system found on the printer driver download web site so that the HP DOT 4 printer connection software is installed.
NOTE: The following printers are the exception and are not supported by EPC when directly connected (CLJ 2700, CLJ CM1015/17 MFP, LJ P2015, LJ 2605 and LJ 3390/92 AIO)
The alert polling frequency is configurable to one (default) and ten minute increments. The ten minute sample rate was added for customers concerned with the extra network traffic EPC generates when polling printers. Lab testing with 20 printers showed minimal traffic slow down when in the one minute sampling mode.
LJ P2014 has reduced device information and no alerts.
EPC is designed to work with 200+ of the most common alerts. Some of the less common or newly added alerts may not be available.
When there are two Windows Printers associated with a single real printer (e.g. a color and mono driver) then only one of them will be represented in EPC.
EPC date is one day behind the Embedded Web Server date.
Printer Settings tab does not display the information about FAX/SCANNED/ADF counters.
If the printers name is too long it can be truncated in the EPC display.
If a printer which is directly connected to a PC via a LPT port is turned off when EPC tries to communicate with the printer, the PC may need to be power cycled to re-establish communication.
EPC speed can be slow in some situations. EPC startup, discovery or alert settings can exceed one minute depending on the speed of the network and the PC.
EPC requires the Asian OS language package to be loaded to display correctly.
